Rommel and I are taking up oil painting classes at Art Informal since last month. We took up Erwin Leano’s basic oil painting class because we felt the need to relearn how to use the medium and Photoshop has already spoiled us to bits. At first, we were really apprehensive about the consequences of using oil paint. It is said to be harmful to lungs because of the smell of turpentine. But since we prefer to use paint thinner, the smell doesn’t bother us anymore so cheers to lovely oil painting experience! And I never realize how difficult it is to draw a green wine bottle! My bottle looked like a bottle with man boobs. It was really fun and our teacher is really accommodating and very generous with giving us advice about oil painting techniques. He even gave us free tickets to Manila Art 2010! Our class is like having techniques class during my college days. We used to have feline and canine visitors during our class when were still in college (our building used to be College of Veterinary Medicine). Every Saturday, Frida, a black Labrador, and Leo, a Siberian Husky, visit our class to sleep while we were painting but Rommel and I secretly named them Sirius and Jacob.
